April Newsletter Update - R&D/Product Development

Mark Slavens, CTO • Apr 19, 2022

What a year this is shaping up to be for the Research and Development group at Aqua-Yield. One of our veteran scientists Chris Hendrickson Ph.D. was recently promoted to Chief Scientist and has been busier than ever working with the sales and agronomic team. Chris is developing an amazing list of agronomic trials to be conducted across the country with some of our leading cooperators and partners. As of April, on top of our internal testing, we have over 40 external trials planned with leading cooperators to look at our nanoliquid technologies and how they can enhance the performance and yield for growers. Chris and the agronomic team will be looking extensively at row crops production, potato production, citrus and other tree fruit production along with the enhanced control of major weeds, insects and diseases across the U.S. We will have extensive data coming out of this year's season that will only enhance the knowledge of how Aqua-Yields nanoliquid technologies can help support the grower and increase yields.

The R&D team also recently hired Garrett Olsen to the team to lead our formulation development and help innovate new products and technologies in our portfolio. Garrett comes with extensive expertise and agronomic management experience through sales and research in the field of crop protection and soil fertility. He has elaborate experience helping growers use up-to-date planting, fertilizing, and soil protecting technologies in order to enhance the quality of yields. This agronomic experience is coupled with a chemistry background from the University of Utah that allows him to match crop needs with the right formulations to deliver impressive results.

Along with Garrett, we’ve also hired a new Research Specialist, Katherine van der Woude that will be starting later this month. She comes with a background in Sustainable Agriculture from Iowa State University and has led extensive programs related to Soil Health Management through the University of Connecticut Cooperative Extension. Katherine will manage our internal greenhouse trials and work extensively with our university cooperators and agronomic team to test new products prior to commercialization.

Some of their success has been attributed to two sustainable product lines which continue to prove their worth in providing early and faster growth, more healthy plants and cost-effective returns on investment: Calcine® and nanotechnology-based products from Aqua-Yield®.

Aqua-Yield® was excited to partner with Beck's again this year and trial some of our nanoliquid® products through their PFR (Practical Farm Research) program. Our 2-year multi-location trials show how our technology helps growers take their inputs to the next level. We strive to become PFR Proven next year!

NanoPro is the Aqua-Yield® flagship carrier adjuvant for crop protection applications. Add NanoPro to any Plant Growth Regulator (PGR) product to increase plant uptake and amplify the end result for crops. PGR products mimic natural plant hormones that either promote or slow plant growth. The chemical structure of PGR products is highly synergistic with Aqua-Yield nanotechnology.
