Fungicide breakthrough and supply-chain vulnerability

Chris Hendrickson, Director of Research & Development • Jun 01, 2021

As the majority of the country transitions to foliar spraying, crop protection becomes the priority for the 2021 growing season. This tends to be the time when turfgrass, row crop, grape and other high-value producers observe fungicide breakthrough, a term generally utilized when a fungal pathogen exhibits reduced or even no response to a previously-effective active ingredient. For sod producers, golf course superintendents and other professionals in the turf industry, this can mean slower recovery from snow mold, greater vulnerability to dollar spot, and other challenging diseases. In specialty crops, this can mean more frequent or higher concentrate applications for powdery mildew control, etc. In an arms race, maintenance of supply routes to 'front lines' of a battle can have profound impacts on the success of one side, or the other.

This season's challenges are compounded by recent supply chain disruptions across many areas of the agriculture sector(s), from raw chemical inputs, to product packaging, import/export delays, weed control product shortages, etc. Growers leveraging a narrow set of chemical tools to fight pest and disease pressures, may find themselves in a difficult situation this season with their distributors of their favored crop protection products. To put more control and power back in growers' hands we encourage you to look at Aqua-Yield's NanoPro spray adjuvant as a tool to help reduce your pesticide burden. NanoPro® is easy to use, inexpensive, nanoliquid solution that can help reduce reliance on crop protection chemistries by accelerating delivery of pesticide AIs to crops' root systems and foliage, regardless of application method. At less than $4.00 to the acre, NanoPro has been proven to speed the pace of glyphosate uptake in various weeds, dramatically improving rain fastness and weed kill from the application.  A pair of fungicides typically used for autumn-applied turfgrass snow mold control elicited equal response to a 100% full recommended rate to a 60% rec. rate of the same products, applied at the same time, when paired with NanoPro® at 4oz./acre, and measured 4 months after initial application (upon snow melt). These are paradigm-shifting observations, that we think can not only help you sustain successful operations during this unique season, but get you thriving. Pesticides, packaging, product inputs and more are limited this year. Let the powerful nanoliquid technology in every bottle of NanoPro® give you the edge you need to navigate 2021's unique obstacles!"

Aqua-Yield® was excited to partner with Beck's again this year and trial some of our nanoliquid® products through their PFR (Practical Farm Research) program. Our 2-year multi-location trials show how our technology helps growers take their inputs to the next level. We strive to become PFR Proven next year!

NanoPro is the Aqua-Yield® flagship carrier adjuvant for crop protection applications. Add NanoPro to any Plant Growth Regulator (PGR) product to increase plant uptake and amplify the end result for crops. PGR products mimic natural plant hormones that either promote or slow plant growth. The chemical structure of PGR products is highly synergistic with Aqua-Yield nanotechnology.
